Steampunk-Convention Echternach

Programma

The seventh edition of the "Steampunk Convention" with the theme "La transformation de la Petite Marquise" will take place on the historic market square in Echternach on 3/4 August 2024. 

During this weekend, Luxembourg's oldest city will be immersed in a nostalgic parallel universe of imaginative costumes, steam engines, gears and frills. Numerous market stalls, music acts (Tales of Nebelheym) and photo shoots at historical locations invite visitors into the maelstrom of the time machine. The costume competition directly on the market square on Saturday evening at 7 pm completes the programme of this year's convention. 

Steampunk is the nostalgic enthusiasm for a bygone era and the positive belief in technology and progress at that time. On the one hand, modern and futuristic technical functions are combined with means and materials of the Victorian age, and on the other hand, the Victorian age is idealised in terms of fashion and culture. Steampunk is thus a view of the future as it might have been in earlier times.
